How to Connect to the Internet

Connecting to the internet with Elevate varies slightly depending on your service type (Fixed Wireless or NBN). Follow the steps below for your specific connection.

Before you begin:

  • Ensure your modem/router is physically connected correctly to the wall socket or NBN equipment. See our NBN Self Install Guide or specific modem guides if needed.

  • Have your PPPoE username and password ready. These were provided in your Elevate Internet activation email.

Fixed Wireless Setup

  1. Connect Your Modem:

    • Plug your modem’s WAN port into the LAN port on the POE (Power over Ethernet) injector that connects to your Fixed Wireless antenna equipment.

    • Ensure the POE injector is powered on.

  2. Configure PPPoE Settings:

    • Access Modem Interface: Log in to your modem’s admin interface using a web browser (common addresses: http://192.168.1.1, http://192.168.0.1). Use the admin login details found on your modem or its manual.

    • Find WAN Settings: Navigate to the WANInternet, or Broadband settings section.

    • Select Connection Type: Choose PPPoE as the connection type.

    • Enter Credentials: Input the PPPoE username and password provided in your Elevate activation email exactly as shown.

    • Save: Apply or save the settings.

    • Restart (If needed): Your modem may restart automatically, or you might need to restart it manually.

NBN Setup

  1. Connect Your Modem (Based on NBN Type):

    • FTTP: Plug your modem’s WAN port into the UNI-D1 port on the NBN Connection Box (NTD).

    • FTTN/FTTB: Connect your modem’s DSL port to the active phone wall socket using a DSL cable.

    • FTTC: Connect your modem’s WAN port to the Gateway/LAN port on the NBN Connection Device (NCD).

    • HFC: Plug your modem’s WAN port into the UNI-D1 port on the NBN Connection Box (NTD).

    • NBN Fixed Wireless: Plug your modem’s WAN port into the UNI-D1 port on the NBN Connection Box (NTD).

  2. Configure PPPoE Settings:

    • Note: Elevate-supplied modems may be pre-configured. If using a BYO modem or if connection fails, follow these steps.

    • Select Connection Type: Choose PPPoE as the connection type

    • Enter Credentials: Input the PPPoE username and password provided in your Elevate activation email exactly as shown.

    • Save: Apply or save the settings.

    • Restart (If needed): Your modem may restart automatically, or you might need to restart it manually.

Verify Your Connection

  • Check Modem Lights: Look for an "Internet," "WAN," or globe icon light on your modem. It should turn solid (usually green) once connected. Refer to your modem's manual for specific light indicators.

  • Test Browsing: Open a web browser on a connected device and try visiting a website (e.g., google.com).

  • Check Status Page: You can often log back into your modem's admin interface and view a 'Status' page to confirm connectivity and see your assigned IP address.
